Student Support Services
At Anchor Lutheran School, we believe every child deserves an excellent education. We are committed to providing an inclusive Christian learning experience that supports students with diverse learning styles, needs, and abilities.
Under the leadership of our Student Support Coordinator, Mrs. Sandi Goerisch, Anchor’s program continues to grow, offering individualized support that allows students to flourish academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally.
How Student Support WorksOur Coordinator partners with students, teachers, and parents to identify what support a child may need in order to reach their full potential. Support may include:
- Classroom strategies that benefit all students
- Mini-lessons on academic skills such as converting fractions or building reading fluency
- Small group sessions for guided practice in math, literacy, or study skills
- One-on-one assistance for specific learning or sensory needs
Teachers and parents may refer students to the program. When assessments are completed, the team reviews the results and makes decisions about next steps. If formal services are needed, they are documented in an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP). Fees for Student Support Services are assessed based on the level of support provided.
Counseling and WellnessOur Counseling and Wellness Program is proactive and preventative, designed to nurture students’ personal, interpersonal, spiritual, emotional, and academic development. Services include:
- Classroom and small group lessons on topics such as transitions, citizenship, health and safety, conflict resolution, and life beyond school
- Individual support for personal and academic concerns
- Parenting education and family support resources
- Collaboration with faculty, pastors, and administration to ensure students receive appropriate academic, behavioral, and spiritual guidance
University and Career PlanningFor Upper School students (Grades 6–12), Anchor provides post-secondary education and career counseling with increasing depth as students advance. Together, our Student Support Coordinator and administrators guide students through:
- College and career exploration activities
- Admissions and testing requirements (PSAT, SAT, ACT)
