1. Anchor Lutheran School is One of the First Private Christian Schools to Operate in Alaska:
Anchor was founded in 1978 as a private, Christian alternative to the Anchorage public school system. Since 1988, Anchor has met the highest standards for accreditation through AdvancED and National Lutheran School Accreditation. In 1995, Anchor became a newly established Jr. High School. In 2022, Anchor became an established High School with its first graduating class expected in 2026.

Anchor celebrates the diversity of over 20 Christian denominations from congregations in Anchorage, Eagle River, Chugiak, Wasilla, and Palmer. A cornerstone of learning at Anchor is its commitment to an inclusive Christian community. Anchor School recognized by the Department of Homeland Security as an international school, authorized to issue Form I-20 for F-1 student visas through SEVIS.
